the end of conspiracy theories: the bubble bursts

Based on observations described in the Gates-Musk paradox and the Great Reset Self-Deception, conspiracy theorists are not concerned with dangers to the public and are not concerned with conspirators. Their priority is creating a fictionalized world contrary to the familiar real world, a fiction that confirms their distrust of reality and information. Their fictions attach to Bill Gates because his philanthropy is remote, coordinated, unemotional, stable, well-supported -- so attributing evil intent endorses the theorist's distrust of reality. Their theories do not attach to Musk because, as an idiosyncratic, unstable, independent and erratic self-promoter, he's not in the least remote or suggestive of secrecy.

So here's a prediction. The Trump administration will undermine the interest in conspiracy theories as reality becomes darker and more malign. The real world of real danger will crowd out the paranoid world of distrust. Fewer distrustful citizens will grasp for unrealities when real dangers are in front of them. Maybe Americans will get real.

Probably not.
